Happy 70th Independence to my country from a confused third culture kid living in the Desert. 🇮🇳 Style is the way I like to express myself. In my post today you see a blend of cultures. You see the desert representing my birthplace (Al Ain, UAE), which I am confused whether or not I can call “Home” yet (living here from 25 years now, mashallah). My westernized outfit is depicting my upbringing in a diverse community and the dupatta and desi accessories representing my passport or identity of being an Indian.
I deeply feel for my country ‘India’, and I am extremely proud for all the developments taking place in my country. But my country is also the UAE, and I am so carried away with the diversity around. It is so difficult for a third culture kid like me to hold on to an identity permanently. It is difficult for us to find identity in our passports or place where we live.
It is not all that bad I believe. I guess we are the truest form of global citizens.
Being a third culture kid has given me a sense of freedom and confidence. However, I would also like to thank my parents to help me hold on to my roots in some ways or the other.
Happy Independence Day to a country so vibrant and rich in history and culture. I believe you still are a Golden Bird. You have beauty in everything of yours.
I find it difficult to express myself in words, I hope some of you could relate. 🙏🏻 #hinamushfiq #hijabfashion #dubai #hijabinspiration #dubaiblogger #modest #uaeblogger #fashionblogger #uaefashionblogger #indianfashionblogger #hyderabad #dubaistyleblogger #hyderabadfashionblogger #ootd #hyderabadfashion #dubaifashionista #dubaifashion #fashionista #alain #inspirations #stylist #hyderabadstylist #abudhabifashion #hellohyderabad #lookoutmiddleeast #dubaistreetstyle #dubaifashionblogger #indiaindependenceday
