Professional and effective coaching requires many traits, three important ones being:
- Commitment: be focused and committed to your client as well as their success. If your client succeeds, so do you. - Growth: continuously apply yourself to learning more. Programs, movements, communication skills, mindset.. More knowledge can help you be more effective.
- Honesty: be honest to your client and yourself. Is this workout what they really need to succeed? Am I truely committing myself to their goals or just putting them through my workout? Is that technique OK or is there room to improve?
Professional coaching is hard. It requires much more work beyond just the session time. It's those awesome moments of success with our clients... the smiles, high fives, fist bumps and hugs... That make it worth it.
