Tonight we stepped out into the cool autumn air and headed for the @twobirdsbrewing Beergustation event at @hopscotchmelbourne where we kept warm with a series of gorgeous beers matched with some amazing dishes.
Kicking off with the ever reliable zesty Taco, Hopscotch set us up with an inventive display of empanadas, pork scratchings and decadent chicken skin (don’t make that face, we all know it’s the only reason you get the bbq chook from Woolies!) - the Taco pairs perfectly with salt and spice.
In quick, impressive succession we sampled smoked mussels, mushy peas and caviar on a bed of potato skin, as well as a more traditional pork schnitzel slider - these smokey flavours were rounded out nicely by a unique white IPA.
As Aussie as a Hills Hoist, our third dish was beer can chicken with a vegemite glaze paired with some mac and cheese and a warm damper roll spread with candied walnut butter - when interspersed with sips of the Trail Blazer Lager, we almost felt like it was still summer!
Our whole Beergustation experience was so innovative from glass to fork, and dessert was no exception - nitro ice cream embedded with salted caramel, dusted with golden gaytime crumb and freeze-dried blood orange.
Two Birds brought some strong beer game to the table tonight and Hopscotch hit it out of the park with their fab menu. We hear these happen regularly and can’t wait to come back!
