Crescent Raku Sculpture by @laurengelgorkaplan Made with Raku process. The piece is fired at 1650 degrees and then glazed. At high temperatures they are swung around to establish the crackle. The glaze cools sooner than the clay, and little cracks develop in the glaze. Each piece is placed in a trash can filled with sawdust igniting the carbon produced by the burning sawdust, it gets trapped in all the cracks and spots where there isn't glaze.
