Avianca Brasil Fokker F28 Mk0100 (Fokker 100) PR-OAD
Unusual view, during a sunset of one of the first Fokker 100 added to OceanAir (now Avianca Brasil) fleet. Taking off!
Not only TAM made benefits of F100 advantages. Operational costs, reliability and performance were some of these advantages. Following TAM's footsteps, OceanAir also decided to add these Dutch jets to the fleet, to expand routes and increase capacity. They operated these from January 2006 to November 2015.
They were previously operated by American Airlines, once the USA operator decided to withdraw them from use from 2003 on, some of them went to Avianca group, so as to OceanAir.
OceanAir/Avianca Brasil operated 16 in total. On November 24th 2015, the Fokker 100 made its last flight for Avianca, being PR-OAU the one that ended this legacy, shutting down her RR Tays for the last time on a AVB scheduled flight.
Gone, but never forgotten.
Trivia: due to the bad reputation of the model among passengers in Brazil, OceanAir decided to name its F100 as MK28. German Efromovich, Synergy Group Chairman, in an interview, once said, humorously. "These Fokkers are mine. I name them the way I desire". OAA/B/C were Fokker 50's, Fokkers turboprops.
