went for a walk around Balboa island this afternoon and the shoreline and beaches were just completely covered in these lil crabs. The stench was ridic. But I feel bad for all these dead lil guys 😟 #tunacrabinvasion#pelagiccrabs
The carnage of hundreds of these Tuna Crabs washed up on the beach at Monterey. We saw tons of them swimming near the pier. They propel themselves backwards, and are about the size of a jumbo shrimp. Seagulls snapped up the live ones, but didn't seem interested in the carrion. #california#montereybay#tunacrab#tunacrabinvasion#beach#vacation
Hundreds of these pelagic shore crabs (tuna crabs) have washed ashore this week in a massive El Niño related event. Shown here side by side a medium sized lobster tail, they can be seen scattered up and down Southern California beaches.
