Here are "Exclamation Point Hairs" visible through a dermatoscope❕
One diagnostic characteristic of alopecia areata (aka stress spot) is the exclamation point hair. In hair loss sites, small broken hairs become narrower as they get closer to the scalp resembling something like an exclamation point. The presence of these exclamation point hairs is a red flag for active alopecia areata requiring a dermatologist to intervene!
