ANGER AT LONDON'S GHOST TRAINS THAT ARE MORE EXPENSIVE THAN REAL TRAINS
Peter Cox, a 77-year-old rail enthusiast, has made it his mission to stop the capital's ghost trains.
Peter said “London’s alive all the time... why we have these ghost trains I don’t know." But what is a ghost train and are they real?
A ghost train is a train that you can buy tickets for but doesn't exist in the real world.
For example: if you search for a train from Victoria to East Croydon travelling after 01:00 am, you can buy a ticket for the 01:16 service which connects with the 1.40 train out of Blackfriars. But if you wait at Victoria for your train it will never arrive - because it does not exist. To make matters worse this non existent train is 20p more expensive than its real world counter part.
Peter Cox describes the situation as "nonsense" and doesn't know how the train companies have got away with phantom services for long. “They should not be selling tickets for a service which doesn’t exist.” #GhostTrain #PhantomTrain
