Pratyahara - withdrawal of the senses. Last night I had the unique pleasure of practicing a vinyasa class with my eyes closed. At first it’s a bit intimating to imagine yourself flowing on your mat without sight, fear of falling, fear of looking dumb (ego), just fear in general. But within moments I was at ease. I still had my monkey mind going, I was using my sense of touch and my breath, sense of awareness on my mat but just to have that 1 sense, my sight, turned off was a wonderful relief and all that much closer to coming in to my body and in the present moment... the true practice of yoga. Forever grateful for my teacher Kiara for providing this unique opportunity to practice in but also for providing a safe environment where I was able to “let go” even if only for 55 mins. ~ Namaste .
