After much discussion about my serious lack of sleep I took advice to try these humming bears @myhummyuk as we don't have anything like this and so many people suggested them.
So firstly they are very soft and cuddly, even if you never switched them on they make a lovely quality toy. The dangley legs and arms are a perfect shape for little hands to grab. So you squeeze his middle and hold for a second or so and the bear plays white noise at a nice low volume. What's clever is that it switches off after an hour but senses when the baby stirs and comes back on.
I think it's a great idea as I don't think mine really ever settle that well in silence. They sleep so well in the pram, partly probably to do with the outside sounds?
We are teething at the moment so things are a bit unsettled but I think the bears are helping to soothe them. I'm letting them rest close to them and a few times I've seen them reach out and snuggle in to them. I still sleep in the nursery and I'm enjoying the sound myself, it kind of plays in light waves, it's very nice so thanks to all who suggested, I read all your suggestions and I like to share with you how I get on with each product. I think these make a nice gift too, nice packaging and a quality soft toy inside. Soon as I can get a picture of the chicklets with them I will!!
