This smiling face belongs to current St. Olaf TRIO McNair Scholar, Djatougbe Nadine '19, who is an Amgen Scholar at the National Institutes of Health-Bethesda Campus this summer. She let us in on all of the amazing work she has done so far. •
"I am currently working at the Social and Behavioral Branch within the National Human Genome Research Institute. I have been on several projects involving uncertainty related to genetic testing and genetic disorders. My main project is trying to look at patients' attitudes towards secondary findings. Secondary findings are genetic conditions found accidentally while testing for other conditions. They generate a lot of ethical issues, and my goal is to code and to analyze data from a survey that was administered to patients who received negative secondary finding results. This is a qualitative analysis, so my hypothesis will be generated from the data after coding."
