Humpty Dumpty jumped in the pool
Head shaped like an egg, she thought she was cool
All the kings horses and all the kings men
Laughed at humpty and she never wore a swim cap again

You know those micro breaks you take in between sets? Or the day you took off the other day and you're going to "make-up for it" tomorrow? "[If] everyday you make a tiny agreement with yourself and follow through with it, you start to see yourself as a person who honors their word. Even when no ones watching. And that's what creates self-confidence." - Sam Brown
Small changes add up to big changes. Ask yourself what kind of person or athlete you want to be? Ask yourself if your excuses nourish your integrity or neglect it. The change starts within YOU.

World Championships Race Report
.
Race day started early at 4:15am, and I got the tram from Broadbeach up to the triathlon location. My wave start was at 6:44am and after a last minute rule change, I needed to replace my disc wheel on my bike before the 2km walk from transition to the swim start. Time quickly evaporated and I found myself jogging up to the swim start so that I'd still have plenty of time to get my wetsuit on.
.
The swim start got underway pretty quick. I tried to keep within my limits, but through the first lot of buoys things got really crazy. I spent the next minute or so trying not to panic as I constantly got pulled under by others swimming over my back. Even after finding some space for myself the panic was still very strong and it took all my control to get my breathing back under control. It was ~500m into the race that I finally settled into a bit of rhythm and looked around for others to see if I could get a draft. However after 200-300m somewhat on peoples feet, I found I was more comfortable just swimming alone. The rest of the swim was fairly uneventful and I exited the water in 22min 58sec.
.
I remember as I ran into transition seeing 22min something for the swim and thinking woohoo! I grabbed my bike and ran out of transition, but as I ran down the kerb my bottle with all my race fuel fell off my bike emptying itself on the ground. I stopped and picked it up (there was 1 sip left in it haha), and continued on exiting T1 in a time of 1:53.
.
I knew I'd pay for the lack of fuel later, but decided I'd deal with that then and pushed on. I was riding ok, but ended up getting caught by a few guys. However, after a few minutes they seemed to slow down. So I moved to the right to overtake. Unfortunately, there was 4 guys to overtake. Staying to the right I managed to take 3, but was stuck out to the right trying to take the 4th when I heard a whistle from an official on a motorbike. They pulled up alongside me and said I was receiving a penalty for drafting, which left me quite perplexed (in hindsight I know why).

Here's the breathing drill from yesterday. Test it on yourself and let me know if your pain or ROM had changed 👍

Some solid training done today. Almost crashed on my bike..😬 Which is a great reminder that there is always room for refining my bike handling skills. Also thank you Jesus for keeping me upright and on 2 wheels 🙏🏼 🐳

p.s. this is a photo of me at the Malibu tri last weekend. If you want to see photos of me training, you could follow me around with a camera while I train. 🐳

Post Race Blues
Anyone feeling them hard right now after Australia World's or another race? You can do a few things that will help. The first would be to get a training buddy, whether that's one on one with a friend or in a spin class - surrounding yourself with like-minded people help raise your spirits. Secondly you can do breathing drills. There will be a video on this tomorrow so stay tuned however, in the mean time... how are you breathing right now? Is it through your nose or mouth? What area of your body are you breathing into? What parts are you not?
Creating more body awareness not only helps with training and racing but with proper recovery as well. It helps us to turn off some of our negative thoughts about the future and tune in to the present which is ultimately the ideal head space to be in.

SIGHTING WHEN YOU SWIM
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When swimming open water you do not have lines on the floor of the pool or lane ropes to keep you swimming straight, in this video you can see me sighting to ensure I am swimming in the right direction.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It was lovely evening for swimming @londonroyaldocksows tonight, a fresh 17.5 degrees 🏊🏻‍♀️

I used to think that because I trained so much I could eat whatever I wanted. I thought, "everything in moderation". However these last two years in particular, I have noticed huge results in my mood, skin, and athletic performance since I've added and eliminated certain things. I'm not talking about a fad diet here... So don't get all wound up 🙈
Adding in a daily carrot salad has been one of the things I've added in. It decreases estrogen, stress hormones, supports your thyroid AND decreases endotoxins. If you wake up in the morning with real stinky breath 🤭 - this is how you know you have a high amount of endotoxins in your system.
Here's the recipe:
1 carrot
1 tsp refined coconut oil
1/2 tsp vinegar
Pinch of salt
Instructions:
Peel skin off carrot and toss out, keep peeling entire carrot and wash thoroughly. Lightly heat oil until liquid, toss in bow with carrot and all remaining ingredients and mix.
