To complement with our Autumn menu, at your High Street Social, Aneira has handpicked some beautiful wines for you this month - with four wines recommended each week - two red and two white and just 12 bottles of each. You're unlikely to find these anywhere else in Wales and once they're gone, they're gone!
This weekend's wines are all £13 a bottle and comprise:
Our Social French Red - coming from sunkissed Roussillon and a blend of very ripe grenache, carignan and a little syrah, bought from a small Social co-operative in the well-situated valley of the Agly river. It is full-flavoured, fruity and round.
The Social 3Cs - the town of Cariñena, in the province of Zaragoza, Spain is thought to be the birthplace of the carignan grape. It is also gives its name to a DO. The three Cs of the name refer to the grape, the denominación and the fact that the producer is based in the town itself. A bright, cherry-flavoured Spanish red, light in tannin with refreshing, sweet fruit, making for a moreish, easy-drinking wine.
Our Social Whites
The Social Falanghina - made by La Guardiense, a Social co-operative in Italy's Campania's mountainous Benevento region with unrivalled vineyards of falanghina, using 50% of grapes that would normally go into their special cru wine. Tangy and fresh, with generous citrus-like fruit, this is a highly seductive and versatile white.
Our Blind Spot Riesling - sourced in Australia by venerated winemaker Mac Forbes. Zesty, bright, vivid and laden with aromatic citrus fruit. Decanter magazine scored it at 91!
