Do what you're going to do with your Strymon Big Sky or whatever boutique pedal you're salivating over, but I would recommend the Line6 M9 to guitarists from beginner to advanced. I don't think it should replace a good overdrive (much to be desired in that department) but the atmospheric effects are fantastic! Particularly the particle reverb. If you're looking for value, versatility and you don't want to overpay for high end pedals, I'd say this is the answer. Just my opinion, of course;) Also - the Morley Mark Tremonti Wah has been a go to of mine for years now. When I solo, I use the wah in place of an overdrive boost more often than not. It has a built in clean boost of up to 20db. It's an electro-optical wah which gets rid of the annoying scratchy sounds from pots going bad and such. Plus it's an unusual wah tone in comparison to a traditional wah. A great tool to have on my board.
