Excited to get our new #deer fence finished on a bit of hill ground over the road. We want to let the #trees here regenerate without being munched by deer, rabbits, hare and the odd marauding sheep.

But this is only temporary. Our vision is a #woodland providing much needed shelter for our #grazing #cattle that live as part of a diverse, #natural #habitat.

BOOM! Bring it on #mothernature and get them trees a growin'

Easter is over, the eggs are gone and the nuts are left for the woillies - little brown bandicoots but where are they? Near extinction unfortunately. Their burrowing habits helped revegetate flora including the unique #West Australian Desert Sandalwood tree.

The stage is set for our first #lynbreckcroft course tomorrow '#trees for the #croft'. #bread and #cakes are baking and we're putting the finishing touches to our presentation.

Feeling a little #nervous and #excited so hey, #bringiton

Weed control in Sandalwood plantations. No sprays just hungry sheep.

How good is this. Biodiversity taking opportunities. Nesting in plantation Sandalwood tree. Plantations offer opportunities and benefits for communities and nature. Follow this space.

We used to burn this wood to make a cosy but very hot fire in winter. Something you seldom see now. Called a mallee root, from the plant where we get our eucalyptus oil from. Seen like this you can understand how much carbon is sequestered in the butt as they are not used much for fires any more. And nature has made them look so decorative in our showroom

We're excited to be invited to do a talk in Melrose on 15th February about our work and life on the #croft. Cue lots of chat around #farmingwithnature, #agroforestry, #sustainable #food #production and life on the edge (of a windy #Highland hill) #NatureFriendlyFarming #croftlife #crofting #treesonfarms #treeplanting

Great day doing prep for our new #woodland #shelterbelt planting. Big shout out to #TeamLynbreck #pig division for doing all the ground prep for us #agroforestry #NatureFriendlyFarming #crofting #croftlife #treesonfarms

Liquid Gold flows in Kalgoorlie

Our Sandalman has planned and is overseeing the building of the first WA sandalwood distillery part owned by the Dutjahn Sandalwood Co and WASP - plantation sandalwood. Dutjahn is an aboriginal group who for the first time have part ownership in this amazing venture. WA sandalwood santalum spicatum has a beautiful smokey/woody aroma with excellent health benefits (see our website). The perception is that it is an expensive oil. We price it very fairly. When used properly the benefits from this unique essential oil tops many others - ask the aborigines. The plant is due to be commissioned early December. We will have the oil available soon with a special commemorative bottle once production begins.

water tanks in place and pipes all underground. A busy week ahead for fine tuning aiming for the first pass of WA sandalwood oil in early December. I'm overwhelmed how hard the boys have worked to get this far. A credit to everyone involved especially team leader Dave. And a super project for a country community.

How beautiful is our West Australian jarrah. @rareearth in the Murray St Markets Perth for a special Xmas gift.

An exciting moment in the history of Western Australian Sandalwood industry. The instalment of the new boiler into the developing distillation plant in Kalgoorlie.

Underground, overground, wonderful tree… Trees are fabulous things. They store carbon, make great use of natural resources, provide shelter for animals, diversify wildlife, produce fruits and nuts…they're one of the most impressive but most natural things on our planet. Putting those benefits to good use in new ways, more and more farmers are planting trees alongside crops and livestock. Animals love them, the soil benefits from them and, ultimately, the farmer's bottom line can benefit too. It's called agroforestry, and I've written about it in my blog - url link in bio or search for gemmacourt.com

We are Perth stockists for this perfect mallee eucalyptus oil. The best on the market, high in eucalyptol, farmed in the West Australian Wheatbelt. Environmentally beneficial by reducing that ground cancer called salinity, keeping water tables stable and mallees are wonderful sequestering carbon. So if you use this great oil you are also contributing significantly to the social and environmental welfare of the northern Wheatbelt of Western Australia. And it's the best price on the global market.
