20 days ago I took a firm decision of packing my bags to hit the road. Travel vibes are contagious, it's all about learning to travel and travelling to learn.
1922 kms away from Bangalore was my destination - PUSHKAR, one among the holy places located in Rajasthan. I was determined enough to explore anything and everything which would come in my way.
Why did I take such a decision? Because I was pretty sure it would help open my mind. You realize that there’s no one way to live life. Meeting people from other places will show you that your world view isn’t the same as everyone else’s.
You can’t imagine how different life is in another place until you see for yourself. Everything from work to family to beliefs to interests is not what you might expect from your own experience. The different setting will also helps discover and consider fresh ideas you hadn’t thought of before. You’ll come home with different notions and possibilities.
Getting away from home gives you the opportunity to reflect on your life. You have the needed time and space to let your mind wander and take stock. Traveling is one of the best ways to learn more about yourself.
Traveling somewhere new is an opportunity to really engage in being lost. You have to pay close attention to figure out what's your place, and how to act, and how to be respectful. You start to question and reflect on your own assumptions and behavior. You have a chance to represent your home, which both makes you consider other people's perspectives and better articulate who it is you want to be putting forth into the world.
“I do not want to get to the end of my life and find that I just lived the length of it. I want to have lived the width of it as well.” -Diane Ackerman
