Day 59: 150KM WILD ANIMAL GAUNTLET
Whilst planning this cycle, today was the day that made us the most nervous: our biggest mileage, in the heat, without any villages, shops or places to stop, along a road known for its wild animals. The last few days hearing stories of wild dogs and lions didn’t necessarily help the nerves...
Happily, we survived the day, both the distance and the animals. We spotted four different groups of elephants and a buffalo (thankfully at a safe enough distance) and this giraffe and his family.
The final 2km walking along the sandy road to our stop for the night told of us the other animals we didn’t spot along the road - it was littered with fresh paw prints 😬
