What started as a simple school project has completed pushed me creatively in a way I wasn’t thinking before. This “trash to treasure” concept has changed my perspective on so much more than art. It’s changed how I grocery shop, what kind of products I invest in, making my own beauty products, etc. Basically it’s just I’m being aware of my imprint. Not every piece of plastic can be avoided but I can find new use or purpose for those I consume. I can attempt to make something beautiful out of them. This art journal has been my saving grace and sanity in another season of change in my life. Hope you enjoy these last few entries #recycledart#trashtotreasure#surfrider#artjournal#oceanlife#plasticpollution
My local coffee shop is helping this girl out by donating their old burlap coffee bean bags so I can turn them into art. Instead of canvas I plan on stretching the material over frames I’m making to very much resemble those store bought canvas you see. From there I plan on painting those animals I created that had plastic intertwined in them on scraps of fabric and then sewing them onto the framed burlap. Still toying with ideas but the main goal is to used almost all recycled materials. This is a couple pages from my art journal I’ve been working on based on this idea!#artjournal#recycledart#trashtotreasure#seakin#oceanart#surfrider#createeveryday#makingadifference
Found an old and nasty table top on the side of the road. Now I'm bringing it back to life with a spiderweb design. Now to add legs and and some color. #woodworking#artwork#trashtotreasure
Check out this piece of Brooklyn history we found on the street this past weekend! Some quick googling told us that the M. H. Renken Dairy was founded in 1888 by Martin H. Renken and grew to become the third-largest dairy in NYC by the 1930s. 🐄🥛 Made of steel and wood, this milk crate is probably from the mid-50s or so — right before plastic took over our lives! #gotmilk#streetfinds#trashtotreasure#renkendairy . . . . . . . .
