-JT- taking pictures of himself in the dark
I just got some awesome news. A close friend of mine, who's serving a year long prison sentence for trafficking in methamphetamine, got a prison job as a teacher's assistant helping inmates get their GED's. People assume meth addicts and drug dealers are such bad people, menaces to society, we're criminals. Truth is, some of the most amazing people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting were making a living selling and heavily consuming meth. Entrepreneurs really, never even considered owning a gun, just helping fellow addicts get their fix, and their lives are over because somewhere along the way the justice system stopped being about rehabilitation and started being about money. How can we justify taking 10 years of somebody's life for being an addict ? The solution to the drug epidemic in the world is not incarceration, its rehabilitation. Give these people an opportunity to get their lives back instead of taking away any future opportunities with a permanent record which pretty much forces them to go back to making money illegally. Prohibition has never and will never solve problems. Call me crazy, but I feel like there's gotta be a better way.
