By 2020 there’ll be around 16,000 people living post-transplant in the UK – but a lot of them aren’t getting the care they need. We've launched a new campaign to make sure transplant patients can receive the emotional, practical, and physical support that will help their recovery.
Joanna received her transplant in 2016 and says: “I think my lowest emotional time was after the transplant. I questioned why I’d gone through this experience and just couldn’t see an end in those first three to four months. I really wasn’t prepared for the psychological impact of a transplant. I wish there had been more psychological support for me and my family – even though staff tried their best, when I really needed the help, it just wasn’t there.” Support the campaign at anthonynolan.org/whocares
