This is one of my favorite quotes.
A friend of mine sent this to me a while back and said that it serves as a reminder for him when he needs to quite the little voice of doubt in his head that tries to creep in and convince him that he should stay inside the box, the goal he’s pursuing is meaningless, to far out, or to big.
And it reads.... _
“We grow afraid of entertaining new ideas and the effort it requires. To think more flexibly entails a risk...We could fail and be ridiculed. We prefer to live with familiar habits and ideas of thinking, but we pay a steep price for this. Our minds go dead from the lack of challenge and novelty, we reach a limit in our field and lose control over our fate as we become even more replaceable.”

There was once a time when I had NO idea what I was doing when it came to health and fitness. No idea what a macro was. Stuck to strictly cardio machines at the gym. I thought soda was an acceptable beverage to drink at all hours of the day and it hydrate me enough. Guys, I literally thought that I could “undo” unhealthy eating by eating something healthy....like I would eat a box of cookies and then eat an apple and legitimately thought the two would cancel each other out😂
And I also went through a phase on the total opposite end of the spectrum and I thought in order to be healthy and “fit” I needed to eat close to NOTHING. I thought I could ONLY eat healthy foods. Treats were completely off limits. Carbs were bad. Sugar was bad. I had SO many rules and restrictions for myself.🙅🏽‍♀️ And still had no idea what I was doing in the gym.
If you’re in or have been in either of these situations, I FEEL YOU GIRL! I SO feel you. I’ve been there. I’ve done that. Yet, here I am.
The only difference between the two of us is that I didn’t have someone to guide me. I had to figure it all out on my own and boy did that take forever! Of course I still don’t know it all and I am still learning new things and things are constantly changing in the fitness industry - but it took forever to get to where I am now!
So, let me help you! Let me show you what to do. Let me teach you how to reach your health and fitness goals while still enjoying your life and without torturing yourself!

What do you get out of belittling someone’s hard work?..... Nothing.
The people that try and strip you of your accomplishments and destroy your motivation to keep going are only doing so out of jealousy, because they didn’t have the courage or strength to chase their own dreams.
Don’t let others rid you of your passion to do what you love.
People are cruel, life is cruel but they also have the potential to be amazing. You have to make your life amazing and you have to surround yourself with amazing people. It sounds hard, i know because it is.
You have to be strong mentally and physically, don’t let words affect you✊🏻

@nationwidekids Columbus Marathon and Half.. 24 miles of the race are dedicated to a Patient Champion, an encore mile honoring previous patients who have lined the course, and the 11th mile, The Angel Mile, in memory of “children who have already run their race.” I ran hard, shed a lot of tears and held my friends close to my heart this morning. 💙

How is everyone’s Sunday?

Train like you want to make change happen & it WILL happen. Train heavy, eat healthy, drink your H2O, stay persistent and patient. There’s no secret to the transformation. I always hear people, especially women, say they won’t lift heavy because they will become “too bulky”. THIS IS SO NOT TRUE! I stand firm that weight training is the optimal way to change your body composition. The more muscle you have on your body, the more calories you will burn. Everyone has their “look” that they prefer and a muscular physique may not be what everyone desires and THAT’S OKAY! 👌🏽💪🏽😁.
• For MY BODY I found that explosive HIIT circuit workouts combined with strength training burns the most fat when in a fasted state AND builds lean muscle 💥.
• My passion for weight training started about 4 years ago. Back then, I had absolutely no clue what I was doing, heck I still don’t know what I’m doing half of the time, but I am ALWAYS learning & moving forward. It’s been a crazy journey of success, failure, learning experiences, and everything in between✔️💯.
• Whatever your goal may be that you are working towards, my advice to you is to GO ALL IN! If you set your mind to it and put in the work every single day, it WILL happen 💙🏋🏼‍♀️🥊🌟.
• Before, I never really believed in supplements. I have always been a relatively active person. I grew up playing basketball and doing gymnastics, moved on to running track in middle school, then competitive cheerleading in high school. I never really had an issue with my weight, I have always eaten whatever I wanted, and it never seemed to affect my body composition too much. I just attributed it to being young, because everyone would tell me how jealous they were, but to wait until I got older and it will all hit me.
For me, it didn’t. I started getting sick very frequently in college, and was diagnosed with Graves’ disease. I seriously struggled during my last two years at Bowling Green State University because of my trouble sleeping and exhaustion, weakness, and my immune system performing so poorly, and me getting sick often. On top of all that, my hyperactive thyroid made my metabolism skyrocket, and I had to eat every few hours so that I didn’t feel nauseous or faint. I was put on a medication that was meant to slow down my thyroid function and help with the symptoms. The medication slowed down my thyroid function, which in turn, slowed down my metabolism. As you can imagine, my eating habits combined with my slower metabolism caused me to gain weight fast. I realized the issue pretty quickly, and took the easy way out. I stopped taking my medication for the disease I have, because I wanted to be thin… I dealt with my symptoms, and decided it was worth it to stay thin and eat whatever I want.
After graduating from BG, I started working nights at the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus. Working night shift took a huge toll on my body, on top of the fact that I wasn’t really taking my medication. I almost always had a Starbucks drink (or two) to get me through a shift.

As of now, I am choosing to make my health a priority, and have taken my thyroid medication everyday for the last few weeks. I am joining this challenge to give me the structure and support I need to develop good habits, and CONSISTENCY!

Scroll scroll scroll and then I saw this and thought to myself, why is this in a motivational pin? Then I thought about it more.
Why would I want to fail?!? Why on earth! We constantly tell ourselves to always keep going and to aim high and reward ourselves for accomplishing things. Why on earth would we want to let ourselves fail?! .
Hear me out. I don’t believe the mindset behind this phrase is to give up. It just means sometimes we have to accept failure in things we aim for. It doesn’t define us. Our failures don’t determine where we stop or where we end. If anything I’ve looked at the times I’ve failed at things and I’ve sat back looked at it and said, “perfect, now I know what my new goal is.” And now I’ve been able to focus on setting myself to aim for that new goal. .
I think at times if we aren’t failing, it means we aren’t pushing ourselves too hard. And pushing ourselves just enough to the point of failure let’s us know what we are capable of. If we never fail, are we really pushing ourselves to our best?! 🤷🏻‍♀️ maybe but maybe not. .
I hope I never get comfortable where I am. I hope I always find a way to push past my failures because I know once I’ve pushed beyond those barriers I’m literally being the best version of myself and always aiming for better. .
