Who knew? This is the thousand mile tree just a couple blocks down the canyon from Henefer UT it marks 1000 miles from where the railroad started it's Western build in Omaha. The original tree, 90' tall was there when they built the #transcontinentalrailroad in 1869 but died in 1900. The Union Pacific Railroad replanted the tree in 1982 it is now 30 feet tall. When I took Patty and Steve on an excursion last week I saw the tree for the first time and Steve took this photo for me as we were driving by. The real interesting thing is that the railroad goes past both mine and Steve's houses.
