I'm so proud of the progress this guy has made since training #functionalpatterns. When he first started, he had little to no thoracic rotation, would laterally flex his spine when he'd try to rotate, had a hip hike or "one leg shorter than the other" (which is extremely common in people but most don't realize they have an issue) and chronic knee pain just to name a few.

The functions you see here in his ribcage and tspine are essential to understand and be able to execute if you want to be a more efficient runner, dynamic mover or simply a human. Good job my friend!

This is my trainer, Lee and this is the first time we've had pictures together since knowing each other for a year and a half! Ha ha, he's going to kill me for posting these...but anyway, he has helped me to understand the importance of bio mechanics and as he calls his training - "training for humans". Now with my metal out of my ankle, we are trying to get certain muscles to function again and correct the compensations I acquired over the years since smashing up my ankle...it's frustrating at times to be starting right back at basics, but I can see the changes happening already and we've even now set some running goals...it's an on-going and long process, but all in the name to move well and to get my body to function as best as it can in the long run! #mytrainerrocks #functionalmovement #fitness #trainwithintention #trainingforhumans

Why do injuries occur during sport/recreational activity? Because we don't strengthen our body in the way that respects those dynamic movements.

Medicine ball pass to train the anterior oblique sling. On earlier reps, I wouldn't fully extend trying to anticipate the rebound. Towards the final reps, I pushed for full extension and more active rotation at the thoracic spine leading a lot more power. My left side is gonna need some coordination work, but it'll get there πŸ˜†

If you're looking to develop overall pushing power, you won't maximize your potential just doing bench press (of course keeping specificity in mind). Your body will respond to different loads to maximize your motor unit recruitment, making you more efficient overall. Been a weekend of sun, so I've spent as much time possible outside training to be as human as possible. 😍😍😍 Sadly I have to train hard to fix my body from the idiocy of previously learned movement. 😲 When I think of all the time I have spent on training to be "fit" by everyones idea of whatever fitness is... 😡 And whatever form I learned was the right one, when today I know that mostly no fitness professional knows what the hell they are talking about. 😟 Trainers don't even know basic human movement. πŸ˜’ They might tell you the names of the muscles and ligaments. But they have no idea how they work together or why the muscles, ligaments and facia are put togheter the way they are. πŸ˜’ Yet I overhear them speaking confidently about form in the simplest and most irrelevant tasks. πŸ˜‘ And the mobility drills they make people waste their time on. πŸ˜‘

Great day for outdoor training today. And the sun actually is warm enough for me to get my @drjackkruse sun exposure in too! β˜€πŸ˜„ Need to be sure to get as much as I can before winter comes and the whole country is covered is darkness β„πŸŒš. In the lab working out the kinks and connecting the links. This version of side press/row I switched my grip on the bands. Pressing from behind really fired up my lateral lines. If you look at the first two clips my compensations show up in my knee and also my pelvis. The bosu exercise that followed was a first for me. I been working up to this one. Alot tougher than it looks.
