On Friday 23rd March 2018, myself and 3 other amazing people –Jodi, Paul and Belinda will be taking on the epic challenge of walking 100km in the Oxfam Trail walker. We are: Team “Brain Health” –Mind Over Miles – Every Step for Brain Health!! Our aim is to raise funds for Oxfam that will assist local communities in helping them to create their OWN SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS to poverty. Oxfam aim to promote education, ensure access to clean water, and teach skills to grow food. They advocate for basic human rights, and equitable access to global resources especially healthcare (which as 3 of us are nurse’s, we are extremely passionate about!!) We also aim to raise awareness for our OWN cause: BRAIN HEALTH!! -And the impact exercise can have on this. Our team is passionate about MS, Mental Health and Dementia. So together, with our combined passion for fitness, we are setting out to fight poverty and raise awareness. In November last year I joined a clinical research team investigating treatment for Alzheimer’s Disease (Dementia). While there is yet to be a cure for this debilitating disease, we are so privileged to live in a country that values equitable access to healthcare, and the resources to fund research to find cures!
So please support us and help fight poverty! Any donation would be greatly appreciated (See link in bio)..... As would your tips/advice for surviving this adventure (past walkers!!)
