When I talk about Patches past or how he is a rescue I don't do it for "likes" or praise, I do it to raise awareness. To remind people that overbreeding/overpopulation is still a very big issue, and because of it horses are homeless, starved, and sent to slaughter. I wasn't the one who did the initial saving and getting him up to weight but adoption is still a very big part of saving these horses. That's another reason I mention him being a rescue, I want people to see what amazing horses they can be. I feel that people think of rescues as horses that will need a lot of work and can't be that barrel horse or jumper they are looking for, but that's not true, some are well trained, they just ended up in a bad situation. Some may need that training but have a heart of gold and will try as hard as they can for you. I don't expect everyone to adopt, horses on the regular market still need homes too but I wish more people thought of them as an option. Just because someone else couldn't see their beauty and heart doesn't mean it isn't there.
