Track Tuesday complete ✅ 4 X 1300 (300). Mu legs were tired after a few long runs over the weekend and again yesterday but kept going and managed to remain consistent on each rep at 5:20. When I started this group I wanted to make it accessible to all abilities and didn’t want there to be any perceived barriers to entry (apart from maybe the 7:30am starts).
.
Track can be an intimidating place to train and can be seen as only for elite athletes. However, although a good base is preferable, all levels can benefit from interval training on a track. The group we have that now turn up regularly make it an enjoyable session and as coaches we try to make it athlete centric as apposed to trying to bash out the session!
.
We also use a periodise training process to build to our A races in the season, whether that’s Cross-Country in the autumn/winter or spring marathons.
.
It’s fun and we hold each other accountable and it’s now a built in habit to make it to track each Tuesday.

Today’s session was

4x200m @3kpace with 60sec recovery x2 and 4 min recovery in between sets
2x1000m @5k pace with 4min recovery

Third month of Wendler’s 5/3/1 (@jimwendler) done. Still feeling the effects of Saturday’s 10K. Only managed 7 reps at my last weight of the month. Ended up accumulating 11 reps in total but 7 is the number. Deload next week then back to the beginning 10lbs heavier. Bring it on!

Yesterday was the “Great Cow Harbor 10K.” The course was beautiful. The weather was perfect. The hills were severe. The top of “Jane Hill” (which is the main event) you are at the 5K point. I grabbed a water and immediately forgot how to drink… waterboarded myself and commenced to try and cough it up out of my lungs while laughing at myself. Pro Tip: practice drinking and running. -
A big thank you to Brandon (@bigtimeblaz) and Deanna (@deannacat) who convinced me to do the race and to the co-founders of my fan club: my parents.-

It was the boys' turn for 10km this week, so we had a side session of 400m at 10km pace and then a surge of 400m at 3km+ pace straight after... 6 times. It doesn't sound much, but it was bloody tough!! .
I was so happy with the session as I was able to keep up with people who I never usually would have and managed to get my surge pace to 3:44/km! 😄

Today I had the opportunity to meet Mikey Brannigan (@mikeybrannigan). He grew up in my hometown and went on to win Gold in the 1500M at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. He also became the first Paralympic ambulatory athlete to break the four-minute mile barrier. Amazing athlete and such a good dude!

So we started a new thing with our PWOC group, and I love it!!

Today was our first morning of Track Tuesdays! There was a chance of rain this morning, but we still had a good turnout. I’m hoping next week we have even more people come!

I was able to get in 2 miles before I had to skip out and meet the cable guy at the house.

We’d love for more to join in with us on Tuesdays and then on Wednesdays for bible study too!
