Today I tackled the second G.E.T. FIT Benchmark workout: Brooks. I decided to name it after Brandon Brooks (@bfaxonb). I’ve known Brandon for a while. We did this workout together back in April before he moved to California. Today I shaved off 15 seconds. Give it a try! -
For those of you not familiar with this rep scheme, you do 25 reps of all 4 movements, then 20 of each and so on until the last set of 5 each. 75 reps of everything in total. Have fun!

1:53:10 first half, 1:46:55 second half for a 6:15 negative split (and 6:17 PR!). NYC is not an easy course to negative split or PR (runner congestion, terrain, etc) but it CAN be done. There is so much POWER in the negative split. It is SO hard to do and requires a ton of discipline. Holding back on the adrenaline, keeping the effort level easy when all you want to do is RUN. But, it is so worth is when you’re running on the Queensboro Bridge, 15 miles into the race, and suddenly realize that you feel good and can start letting your legs go. Faster and stronger until the finish line-not necessarily easy but totally manageable. Every muscle screaming but able to keep the momentum going. Now I need to learn how to keep the negative split happening while trusting myself to go a bit faster in the beginning. The beauty of running is that it’s all about progress not perfection, and there is always room for growth. Thank you to coach @johnhonerkamp and @offthehooktc for fun filled #tracktuesdays and for making me a stronger, faster and smarter runner. Thank you @nyrr for providing me with the opportunity to be a #coach and to all #grouptraining runners for allowing me to be a part of your marathon journeys. That was truly special. You will underestimate this. The first few rounds are cake. Then all of a sudden that rest time ticks by faster. Then the world starts to close in and you beg for it to end. 120 Cals. Nuff said. Do it! You won’t regret it (until round 6). -
HAMMER the work. You should finish the 12 calories in 30 seconds or less. If it is taking longer, scale the calories to whatever you can do in 30 HARD seconds. Rest 5x the amount of work time. Sign a waiver. -
