///I’ve taken a much needed break, and today I present to you a number of reviews to come. This week has been crazy with new music releases so I’ll endeavor to review every project in due course. As we near closer and closer to the release date of Atlanta native Nessly’s album “Wildflower” on February 28th, Nessly drops off “Whohasit” featuring Ski Mask the Slump Dog.
I’ve written a number of times about Nessly’s distinctive sound and intentions. Hailing from the saturated market that is Atlanta, Nessly has still been able to carve out a sound that’s grand, meticulous and polished. Despite this being his debut album, the singles that have been presented have been nothing short of stellar. In my opinion this alongside “Make It Right” – which I will write about in another review) is his best produced and sounding single he’s released to date. Ski Mask slots on so seamlessly on this track which gives me all the more confidence that the features we are expected to hear on the project including 24hrs, Joji and Hoodrich Pablo Juan will appear to compliment Nessly – as opposed to an attempt at solely reaching a new audience which a lot of upcoming artists seem to think is the formular to success.
TM88 & Cubeatz provide the perfect backdrop to Nessly’s vocals which have sounded a lot more crisper and imposing in recent times. I’ve followed Nessly’s movements ever since his first official tape, “ Still Finessin” and he genuinely gets better and better with each release – from both a beat selection and vocal perspective which indicates to me that Nessly is maturing with time. The subject matter on the track is basic, but when listening to Nessly in a saturated market such as the one he’s in – its important that he continues to back up his promises as he is, of creating the best body of work he’s presented thus far. Its good to see him getting his due cred, with Whohasit currently sitting at 33 in the Global Viral Top 50.
With Republic Records in his corner, I’m very excited to hear what the rest of “Wildflower” is to sound like. Onwards and upwards as we’re only days away from its imminent release ✏
