Last night I had to tell the IAmElemental story in three minutes. Talk about stressful! Let me explain. Back in 2013, I went to a startup conference & one of the speakers was @rachelshechtman of STORY. IAmElemental was still in development mode pre-@Kickstarter & full of big dreams. Rachel explained the idea behind her concept store @thisisstory & I loved it. Every four to eight weeks, STORY "completely reinvents itself - from the design to the merchandise - with the goal of bringing to light a new theme, trend or issue." "Someday," I thought. And I have been following her ever since. Every so often, Rachel has a Pitch Night, where she offers startups like mine an opportunity to come & share our stories with STORY. Last night was one of those nights. Invitation in hand, I headed downtown. There was lots of traffic. By the time I got there, it was late & I was given pitch number 40. And while I absolutely loved chatting with the other startup founders (so much fun! So inspirational!), it isn't easy to wait so long without getting really really nervous. Especially when I was also pitching @goodmorningamerica @toryjohnson & @nordstrom's @oliviakim. As you might imagine, it was a blink & you'll miss it blur. But! Even though I have hardly any recollection of what I said, they liked it! And we're in. A MILLION thanks to Rachel & the amazing STORY team for the opportunity, and the enthusiastic response. It was a surreal thrill to come full circle four years later.
