This is why I have cabin fever which is fueling depression in the hospital.
This is my so-called hospital room at Trillium. It's in a nook in the hallway, no windows, right next to the nurses station. I hear and know of everyone's condition here.
How's that for your privacy?? And I sure hope that my insurance company does not get charged for semi-private or private, because that would be fraud.
There are people roaming loudly down the halls and peeking in at me, bright lights everywhere that I can't turn off, and they think this is acceptable. I shouldn't have to bring a sleep mask or ear plugs, but I have to or I can't sleep. Every other patient also has a shower but not me.
Meanwhile there's one person per large luxurious room in this area, when there's room for two per room but the beds are placed on an angle! There is zero charge to be put in a ward, but there's none that I can see. It's all about the money.
My neighbour had about ten visitors yesterday, all at once, including a dog. I couldn't fit more than two or three comfortably in here. The saddest part is, this is the newest wing.
Someone was drunk at the wheel in designing this place with an ever growing population. Insurance companies, verify with your patients that they were actually put in the room you were being billed for!! It wouldn't be such an issue had I not been here for four nights already. But I'm quite frankly fed up!
On the positive side, the nurses are all amazing and I'm feeling awful at putting my frustrations on them. They are your backbone and you need to make sure they also have privacy.
I challenge hospital admin to spend at least four days in here and tell me how you feel after.
