Strong glutes are so important!! So important!! They are a muscle that are very misunderstood. They arent just something to fill out the back pockets of your jeans!
Glutes help to stabilize the pelvis and ensure proper function of the hips. Without strong glutes your lower back starts to take on the load and thus creating dreaded lower back pain. A very common complaint.
So here is an exercise anyone can do to encourage proper glute activation and nice work on a nice strong core.
Glute bridges are a great exercise to see what properly firing glutes actually feel like. You can do them without any weights or bands, but putting a band around your thighs will further increase the contraction during the movement as you are forced to push your knees outwards and make those glutes fire!! Make sure you pause at the top of the movement and really concentrate on squeezing that toosh!!
