Too much UV light - whether from tanning or the sun - can cause cancer, premature aging, and other problems. But a little bit, especially if you don't get a lot of sun, can be good for you. It's good for your skin, increases vitamin D levels, and can even increase testosterone in males .
I'm a night owl and always have been. Add to that, it's winter here in (just south of) Boston and cold as all fuck, so I'm inside most of the time. I usually travel quite a bit in the winter but decided to stay put this year to finish a couple big projects. In other words, I haven't gotten and real sunlight in months. So, I tan for a few minutes a couple times a week. It's not really enough to get darker, but my skin looks better and I just feel better when I do. It definitely helps my seasonal depression, which I always get a little touch of every year .
