When my father was a boy and my grandfather had only been working as a stagehand for a while, they had a family meeting. The man under whom my grandfather had apprenticed was retiring, and he wanted to buy that man’s tools. There would be belt tightening involved, the cost was several hundred dollars. But, as any craftsman knows, good tools mean the world, and these were very fine tools. Obviously my grandfather bought that box, and he passed to his son, and it will eventually pass on to me. These saws are in that box, and as gorgeous as the day they were made.
It’s #toolsday again. Time to share another one of my favorite tools from our shop. This ring bender is great for bending ring shanks evenly and parallel. It’s so much faster than trying to bend around a ring mandrel. I have a used one like mine in stock right now as well as a different style that has different shapes forming dies. Link is in my bio.
