This is me before and after a dinner-party. I usually feel bloated and super miserable after eating and drinking in excess😵. It seems as I gained 2 or 3 kg straight away😱. But is it a case? Human beings, actually, physically unable to gain more than 250 grams of fat in one day. Good news, right😌? Though, we still need to be very careful with the alcohol consumption, especially when embarking on a weight loss journey. You can drink alcohol in moderation and still lose weight, but regular or excessive alcohol can significantly hinder your weight loss efforts😩. Alcohol itself contains 7 calories per gram, almost double the 4 calories per gram from protein and carbs and just 2 calories short of the 9 from fat. Unlike carbs, protein and fat, alcohol doesn’t fill you up, so you’re likely to over consume a lot of extra calories. It’s not just the calories in alcohol itself that cause weight gain, but also the calories from mixers like soda and sugary syrups. While a 4-ounce glass of red wine contains 90 calories, a margarita packs a whopping 500 calories😳. That's almost half of your entire calorie count for the day if you’re on a 1,200-calorie weight-loss diet.
Drinking alcohol also interferes with the way your body burns fat. When you drink alcohol, fat metabolism stops using fat for energy, and turns to the calories from the alcohol. This causes a buildup of fatty acids and can hinder weight loss.
You don’t have to completely avoid alcohol when trying to lose weight, but try to not drink more than one drink a day for women and two drinks a day for men. Choose wine, light beer or a low-calorie mixer, such as club soda, over juice or cola. Instead of skipping a dinner, eat a healthy, satisfying meal before you indulge. That way, you’ll be less likely to drink too much or binge on unhealthy foods. Hope it helps. Tag 'party animal' friends who struggle to lose weight.💜 www.trainwithmila.com
