#MYTHBUSTERMONDAY "To have visible abs/shrink your waist down, you need to do lots of ab exercises to target the fat in that area." FALSE!

Having a small waist and visible abs are two separate topics BUT if we're gonna lump them together, it really just comes down to:
.
1️⃣ A small waist in terms of actual body structure is dependent on genetics. The smallest part of my own waist is 25-28 inches depending on my current level of leanness. I'll never have a 22 inch waist. The lesson here: ACCEPT what you're given.
However, how small it LOOKS depends on the relative size of your legs and back in comparison to your waist. My waist looks way smaller now than it did 3 years ago because my back, shoulders and legs are well-developed.

2️⃣ The most realistic way to make your waist as small as possible for YOUR OWN genetics is by body fat loss in the area. However, spot reduction doesn't exist. Losing overall body fat is how it must happen. Some people genetically lose fat in their stomach first, others last. You lose body fat by 1) diet, 2) training and 3) cardio. No ab exercise will be your "magic tummy flattener". Be patient and trust fat loss will happen if you stay consistent with ALL variables over a long period of time.

3️⃣ Training your core will make it easier for you to see abs at a higher body fat %, and may make your core appear leaner at the same bodyweight than it would without the muscle present. Not to mention, a strong core makes for good posture and prevents a lot of injuries in training. Everyone has genetic predispositions for how abs show up too, so don't expect a bulging six pack just because you did a set of hanging leg raises.

THE TAKEAWAY: There is NO quick fix for a small waist. You want the hourglass ratios? You want abs? Lift weights and build your back/shoulders/legs up for a few years. Train abs to build them up. Don't be stuck constantly dieting, take ample time in a calorie surplus before cutting. Keep your diet consistent af for a few years. Notice. How. I'm. Saying. YEARS. The body you want isn't 4 weeks away. It's not even 4 months away. This is a lifestyle. Enjoy the journey and be in it for the long haul.

Do you want a stronger core? Then you must take action, even if it's taking one move from this video and completing 15 reps today. Tomorrow choose another one. Small steps everyday can add up to big change over time. You got this! 💪🏾

I was motivated to start cleaning right away wen I woke up this morning so I acted on the impulse. As I was cleaning I moved my laptop and saw the #beachbabe4 videos and saw the Tobed Abs video that always intimates me. There are so many planks! 😖😵 so I decided to challenge myself and do it as best as I can and I have to say it was a personal best for consistency in my plank variations 😁🙌🏼

Late check in for yesterday (October 19th). Completed all 3 rounds of the daily moves, but only did 10 pistol squats per side each round. Also completed the #tonedabs with Kat and did 3 rounds. And then 10 min on the stairmaster with the Love Your Body routine

Ok back down to earth haha..check in time! First off Idk who makes the “workout time” but you are smokin’ something if you think I can get 3 rounds of all 5 moves PLUS 30 sec of cardio in between each one done in 15 minutes..it took me 45 😂😂 but I still got it done! And threw in some #TonedAbs with @katrinaascott at the end for some extra burn 🔥 💦 ••

Patton. ⭐️Food was on point apart from 1 iced mince pie but tomorrow back on track 🙂

Single leg ball core work is so fun but a bit much after teaching 2 hours Pilates & Barre back to back early this morning. I will probably film this Friday instead of today. My hip flexors need stretching. Check out my story to see wrong way to do knee tucks. Collapsing torso on thighs, sawing back and forth instead of using core to draw hips up knees in. This move doesn’t look hard, but after doing lots of upper body work, it’s really tough! I’m only holding 10 lb weights, but it was a struggle to keep my arms at 90° for the full minute!
