Saturday Storytime. #TIUjourney
April 2016: I was recently engaged to my college sweetheart and wanted to change my body (shedding before the wedding, aka get skinny). I invested in the #TIUnutritionplan . Meal prep, macros, calorie counting, working out, and healthy eating wasn’t new to me. But I needed something different, because what I was doing wasn’t working. I followed the plan (sometimes), worked out (intermittently), it all felt overwhelming and I was looking for results in the scale…which didn’t happen.
Fast forward to March 2017: Stressed out, feeling inadequate, equating my size (which wasn’t getting smaller) to my self-worth & a one-month countdown until our wedding. This was the breaking point. My ever-supportive fiancé and I talked and agreed goals had to change (all my focus went to my mental health and overall well being, I was going to be a happy bride with my body on my wedding day, no matter what size I was). Start: Daily mindfulness and beginning of meditation.
May 2017: One week before I turned 30! The wedding had come and gone, and it was AMAZING, definitely the best day of my life. But this didn’t mean my life was over, there was so much to work for…especially my overall health. One night I made the decision I was going to take my fitness and nutrition day by day, and just try my best (simple as that) (my 30’s would be the best decade yet). #TIUBikiniSeries completed, #TIUSummerToneUp in progress and I feel the best I have felt in years! I’m challenging myself daily and being gentle with myself simultaneously…it’s the most beautiful balance. I am so thankful my #TIUcommunity is growing, because this means my goals and life will only be supported more by girls who understand this journey, live this journey, and will share in the triumphs and challenges of our journeys together.
