House Of Many Colors

The Villa Maria in the Catskills' Greene County is one of the last traces of the Bocce Belt, the Italian American answer to the Borscht Belt farther south. The long-shuttered resort dates to 1903, assumed the Villa Maria name after World War II and emerged as a happening place for entertainment, outdoorsy fun and swimming in what the Hunter Foundation describes as the biggest concrete pool in the Empire State. The good old days are long gone, but there's talk in the mountains of a revival of Villa Maria, a new resort to meet the needs of a resurgent weekend tourism industry. You know, for people like me. Just do me a favor and keep this awesome #midcentury sign, now surrounded by weeds. #retrologist #upstater #catskills

Beach weekend? Wildwood has so many amazing signs but there's something about the LuFran that just gets me every time ... even though Pamcierge says they sometimes get a rough crowd over at the LuFran! ☕️#coffeetalk #wildwood #beach #just_newjersey #jersey #njspots #SiCoGTL #SiCogonewild #SiCoBeachParty #royalsnappingartists #RSA_Main #rsa_mycity #rsa_streetview #vscocam #picoftheday #instagood #jj #the_visionaries #signofthetimes #somewheremagazine #SignCollective

New Jersey has earned an international reputation for its diners, but Connecticut is no slouch in this department. Consider the Aero Diner in North Windham, Connecticut, which is one of only two diners manufactured by Bramson Engineering Co., a Long Island company that normally produced hospital equipment. This 1958 diner has been on quite a journey, changing names and moving around a few times before finding a haven at the American Diner Museum in Rhode Island, which sold the restaurant to its present owners in 2005. Considering the sad fate of so many diners, the Aero has landed well. That sad fate applies to its twin, which by all accounts has vanished. #retrologist

In Connecticut, liquor stores are required by law to sell their products in sealed containers packed for consumption off premises and thus "packaged" (as distinguished from bars that could sell alcohol for on premises consumption). Billy's has one of the best signs in the state and one of the guys came out to tell me he thinks it's from the 60's... I say older!! 🍾 #Hartford #connecticut #packagestore #liquorstore #royalsnappingartists #RSA_Main #rsa_mycity #rsa_streetview #vscocam #picoftheday #instagood #jj #the_visionaries #signofthetimes #somewheremagazine #billy #signswithmartiniglasses #SignCollective
