A couple of years ago our crew put down about 250,000 sqft of this Halex Underlayment requiring just under 2 million nails in several Army barracks. I figured if it is good enough for a government spec it is good for my house. @itwpaslode
I just framed out the niche on an exterior wall, prior to doing so I laid out a story pole showing all exact measurements for the tile layout on one side of it, and for plumbing rough in on the other side. I wanted to make sure that the thermostatic valve, shower head, and sliding wand would fall out perfectly center of each tile, and to make sure my niche was in the correct spot because I am mitering all edges around the niche, and want full tiles around the perimeter for that perfect layout. Does anybody else use a story pole, or is there another method that works better for you?
