📌October 2nd - National Child Health Day! As the weather changes and we continue to enjoy outdoor activities, always be aware of the little critters that may find you and your family before you find them! Here are some tips for avoiding ticks, an unpleasant vector (transporter) of disease. Along with Lyme, they can also spread Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Bartonellosis, Rickettsiosis, Babesiosis, and a growing list of viruses! Although the general concern for ticks is through the summer months, many of these species can become dormant through colder months (termed “overwintering”) and pop awake during warm spells.
