The Smokin’ Grooves Festival is back! This summer, the R&B and hip-hop event returns after a 16-year hiatus. Erykah Badu, Miguel, and Jhene Aiko will headline the concert in Long Beach, CA on June 16.
The first few festivals in the 90s struggled to bring in consistent revenue. The 1998 tour sold $4 million in tickets, but most venues were less than 50% full. Hip-hop concerts have come a long way, so this year’s return could be a test for future events.
