This right here is what has brought me back to instagram after a long hiatus (this sort of thing doesn't happen to me very often, but I liked insta before it was cool). As a family, we are working hard toward the kind of house deposit that will save us big $$ in the long run. I have a shitty relationship with money. My husband is amazing, he wants for nothing, he is #FrugulusMaximus by nature. Me on the other hand, I am a magpie at the mercy of shiny...don't you just love #new ?? New is a beast though, a rampant devourer of house deposits and sensible living. So this is why I'm back on #instagram. I'm following the #thrifters, the #minimalists, the #frugals and other such #cheapbastards in order to reconstruct my idea of 'normal' when it comes to spending. I'm hoping to connect with new communities and engage with new ways of thinking about #money #saving and #ownership ... I told my husband I wanted to do a #nothingnewyear in which I thrifted all my clothes and homewares. For me, this is not something I can do in the quiet of my own private mind, I am weak of will and need confirmation and community. The #needfornew lives in a secret little corner of my brain, ready to jack it with a butt tonne of dopamine every time I hear the rustle of a receipt roll. I'm forever guilty of buying things I don't need just because they're cheap or on sale, my Archilles' Heel is a cheeky little #bargain...so here I am, back on #insta chronicling my resistance to #consumerism and hoping you all don't mind me flooding your feeds with #thriftymum hashtags about #frugalliving . This is my list of commitments for my #nothingnewyear - I'd love suggestions! And if you're feeling brave, I'd love you to join me...make me feel a little less like a globally warmed iceberg floating in a spending mentality sea.
