I really like visiting the sculpture gallery at the Walker because it's one of the few public places where I see the kind of body that I can relate to. They look rounded and a bit squishy in a way that women in magazines or on film and tv don't tend to look. There seems to be a much more varied representation of women in 'classical art' and you can see from walking through galleries full of paintings and sculptures that what's considered attractive to look at, or a desirable body to have, is an ever shifting thing and that actully it all means precisely nothing.

Overshadowed by the Royal Liver Building, the Cunard Building is one of
Liverpool's "Three Graces"
.
Inspired by the grand palaces of Renaissance Italy, the iconic building was designed by William Edward Willink & Philip Coldwell Thicknesse for the Cunard Steamship Company 🛳
.
Constructed over three years, the headquarters were opened in 1917. Filled with offices upstairs, the lower floors of the building were used for passenger facilities as people waited to set off on their next adventure 🎒
.
In 1934, the Cunard Steamship Company merged with the equally famous White Star Line company (of Titanic fame) to become the Cunard White Star Line. Both companies had been struggling financially & work on new ships had been put on hold, causing pockets of depression around ship building communities. Restarting the building work, the government lent the companies a loan on the condition they merged together
.
Becoming the largest passenger steamship company in the world, they designed the infamous ships RMS Queen Mary & RMS Queen Elizabeth in the Cunard Building
.
In the 1960s, Cunard Line left the building, relocating offices to Southampton & New York 🗽
