Does this photo throw you of as much as it throws me off? At first glance--neat! These caves look like a great place to wander, and they are! But at a closer glance, a lot of the 'texture' in that rock looks weird. Oh wait, they're carvings. Not the kind that get protected as archaeological sites, AKA petroglyphs, but just nonsense dafacing a beautiful natural site. Now, I have not once contemplated etching my name, or M+* 4EVR, or the date I was at any given location into any given location, etc and it is truly difficult to understand the purpose or need for such an action. That said, I have actually never caught someone in the act (which is actually kind of crazy)--have any of you? How did you react? Did you avoid conflict and move along? Did you aggressively confront the offender? Or did you educate and positively reaffirm using the authority of the resource r other tactics?
