Yay or Nay????? #haiti new stock is in route...

A friend of mine was looking at pictures of my recent trip to Haiti, and she made a comment that I looked "so happy". And honestly, she was 100% right. I love Haiti and the people in it. I mean look at these pure innocent smiles!!! Did these boys speak English? No. Do I speak Haitian Creole? Definitely not. But here we are, smiling, happy, joyful, loved. It just goes to show that actions really do speak louder than words and that you don't need words to show love. I miss ny Haitian friends and family! I can't wait to go back.
Haiti really is my happy place! 🇭🇹💙❤🇭🇹 #thisishaiti #MOHHaiti #moh #medicalmissiontrip

FRUIT AND VEGETABLE WOMAN
🍅🥕🍉🍊🌽 I am the fruit and vegetable woman
When I walk past your house you might hear me say "fruits and vegetables, fruit and vegetables" as if I am singing a lullaby for everyone to hear
No one knows my struggle
The reasons why I sing
I did not choose this hard life I live
Every day, before the sun rise, I rise

Susan Fletcher and her family have been part of New Charlotte since things started up in 2010. Now, after 4 Haiti trips, she’s a seasoned short-term mission trip veteran.
__

Susan grew up “always knowing that one day I would like to go on a mission trip.” In 2012, shortly after our partnership with @mohhaiti was formed, she began feeling called to go. “I struggled with choosing between my calling and my fear of the unknown. Having two daughters at 2 and 4 was tough. But we prayed about it and in the end, I knew where God was leading me.”
__

On her favorite part of being in Haiti, Susan shared, “Oh wow, there really is no favorite ‘part’. Being in Haiti is just an experience of a lifetime and I have come away each time a little different, a little closer to God, and a lot more in love with this country. If I had to pick one thing it would be the people! …I have been blessed to have made some lifelong friends from Haiti as well and for that I will forever be grateful. I am able to come home knowing that I will go back and see my friends again soon enough!”
__

The challenges of serving on a short-term trip aren’t lost on Susan. “The hardest part of Haiti is when doubt creeps in and you wonder if what you're doing will make a difference. But you quickly remember that even if one life is changed for the better a chain reaction can occur and God can move mountains with that. Another part is leaving the people you love and having to say goodbye.”
__

Susan reflected on seeing God at work: “I have seen people come to know and accept God in Haiti. I have seen amazing improvements in living conditions and health care and clean water accessibility. I have seen houses painted, houses built, bathrooms created, and trees planted. I have seen my own life transform. But my favorite is the bond of strangers that is made during our time there that become so close to us.”

I follow life's path
I rise for my children's education
I am uneducated
I rise for my husband
His soul and body has been broken from so many years of hard labor
I rise for every woman
So, they are able to know their worth
I rise, even if heaven never tells the Sun to have mercy on my dark Charcoal skin
When I enter my garden
It is full of color
I find hope for my children's future
I find hope for my husband's health
I find hope for all the women that lost their hope
And I find hope to wake up another day
One by one, I choose the best colorful hope to put in my basket
Once I am done loading up my heavy load of hope
I get down on one knee
The other knee supports both my hands
Struggling to lift up the heavy load
I place my load of hope upon my head
I rise, no matter how heavy the load gets
I rise, even if the sun burns me to the bones
I rise, even if there are still many struggles ahead
Once the heavy load is on my head
I let go of all my past struggles
I am simply, the fruit and vegetable woman
