STILL really excited that I got 110lbs for 5 sets of 2 yesterday. 110 has been my biggest mental block since I ever started powerlifting and after I beat it last week, I can finally feel comfortable with it and get it without worry. I guess all the trauma from high reps was worth it @teamproscience 😂

When I was younger, I quickly learned that I was NOT athletic. My parents had me try softball, ballet, gymnastics, soccer...all of which I disliked 🙅🏼‍♀️. One day, my grandmother took me for a pony ride, I WAS HOOKED. ▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
I’ve had the privilege of riding horses since I was 4 years old. I took lessons once a week and basically spent every afternoon at the barn with horses. These large animals hold a special place in my heart because they molded who I have become. I was taught to be gentle, but also be firm. I learned balance and coordination by riding without a saddle. Early on I learned about responsibility, because caring for a 1200lb animal is not a light task. ▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
My current horse Chandler has taught me patience & how to control my emotions, specifically fear and anxiety. A horse can feel your emotions, they feel your breathing and how fast your heart is beating, their behavior reflects your own emotions. Chandler and I would have training sessions that would end in total frustration because I was scared of his behavior - he was a hot headed Thoroughbred 🐎. ▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
I realized that I needed to show him how to be relaxed...I needed to be relaxed, and in control of my emotions in order to control him. What do you know, it worked! Now, every ride we have ends in smiles and peppermints (cuz he LOVES peppermints). ▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
Riding my horse is another form of meditation for me. It’s my happy place. Having this healthy control of emotions transfers over into powerlifting as well as my career. Ever miss a lift because you’re frustrated?? Yup. Ever make a huge mistake at work because you’re ridden with anxiety?? Mhmmm. Then you have to find your own happy place. I’m forever grateful to horses for creating mine ❤️ #equinelover #horsesaremyhappyplace #horseyoga

Whether you’re trying to lose weight, or gain muscle; to see your body change, your actions need to change. You are the one that needs to put in the work. There is no easy way unfortunately. It is tough, I’m not going to lie, but if I could do it as a young teenager, anyone can.

I get multiple messages daily asking how I did it. It’s simple science; calories in, calories out. If you are not in a caloric deficit, you will not lose weight. That doesn’t mean you need to cut your calories in half, please don’t. Being in a caloric deficit doesn’t come from just the calories you consume, but your expenditure. Get up. Start moving. Be more active. Increasing your NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis) is an easy way to start!

There is no tricks to weight loss. There is no 30 day fix. It takes time and consistency. But it can be done. You can do this; you are the only factor keeping you from living a healthier life. You are limitless.

Sloppy squats @122.5 kg - 96%. Skwats and bench (ish) from yesterday • top 8 at 245 followed by 4 x 5 at 225 • didn’t do a top 8 for my bench and just stuck with my 5 x 5 at 110 because I’m trying to figure out what’s wrong with my bench before I start to add weight.
