Intelligence refers to intellectual functioning. Intelligence quotients, or IQ tests, compare your performance with other people your age who take the same test. IQ tests are limited measures of intelligence, as they don't include all of the 9 known types of intelligence described by developmental psychologist Howard Gardner.

9 TYPES: 🌾 Naturalist - ability to discriminate among living things (plants, animals) as well as sensitivity to other features of the natural world (clouds, rock configurations) 🎶Musical - capacity to discern pitch, rhythm, timbre, & tone. 📈Logical/mathematical- number/reasoning smart 🤔 Existential - sensitivity & capacity to tackle deep questions about human existence, such as the meaning of life, why we die, & how did we get here. 👂👀Interpersonal - ability to understand and interact effectively with others. It involves effective verbal and nonverbal communication, the ability to note distinctions among others, sensitivity to the moods and temperaments of others, and the ability to entertain multiple perspectives. 🤸‍♂️ Bodily-kinesthetic - capacity to manipulate objects and use a variety of physical skills 💡Linguistic - ability to think in words & to use language to express and appreciate complex meanings 👩‍🎓Intra-personal - capacity to understand oneself & one’s thoughts and feelings, and to use such knowledge in planning and directioning one’s life ⚛ Spatial - ability to think in three dimensions. Core capacities include mental imagery, spatial reasoning, image manipulation, graphic and artistic skills, & an active imagination.

SOCIAL ANXIETY & PERFECTIONISM

Social anxiety disorder (SAD) is characterised by a marked or persistent fear of social or performance situations in which embarrassment might occur. Perfectionism is a personality trait associated with social anxiety. Research by Hoffmann (2007) links expectations of others high standards links with an underestimation of your ability to achieve such social goals.

Eg. Socially anxious people perceive the expected performance standards to be much higher than non anxious people, and their capability to be less ( negative self bias)

Perfectionism increases anxious rumination about the self and contributes to anxiety symptoms. It can lead to avoidance behaviours, panic feelings, reduced self esteem and some phobias.

Social anxiety and perfectionism are manageable if acknowledged as problematic and treated by a professional. CBT is one psychological technique that may be helpful. You don't have to feel alone, there are treatments that will improve your social confidence.

#realtalk time... Can you wrap your head around the quality of life that we are creating for the wild life around us??? This handfull is just one handfull of the millions of hanfuls of broken down, single use plastic that is now in the environment from us as humans. These handfuls of plastic ending up in the stomachs of our wild birds, sealife and other animals because they dont know!! They dont know this colourfull textured substance isn't digestible but rather going to fill their stomach and effectively kill them...is it perhaps time we started helping our planet and the innocent rather than harming them because of convenience... #dontbelazey

HAPPINESS ACCORDING TO SELIGMAN

Researcher Martin Seligman proposed that 5 elements can help people reach a life of fulfillment, happiness, and meaning.
P – Positive Emotion: being able to focus on positive emotions is the ability to be optimistic and view the past, present, and future in a positive perspective.

E – Engagement in the activities in our lives is important for us to learn, grow and nurture our personal happiness.

R – Relationships with parents, siblings, peers, and friends are important to spread love and joy. Having strong relationships gives you support in difficult times

M – Meaning: Having a purpose and meaning to why each of us is on this earth is important to living a life of happiness and fulfillment. Rather than the pursuit of pleasure and material wealth, there is an actual meaning in life.

A – Accomplishments: Having goals and accomplishments in life is important to push ourselves to thrive and flourish.

And when I come across someone who thinks they know all the answers to any subject... well, that is a concern. RARE and beautiful #pinkdolphins in the sea near Lantau island in Hong Kong. These dolphins are born black and then gradually change colour to grey, then white as they age. Apparently, the adults appear pink due to the presence of blood vessels located very close to the skin that help the animal stay cool. Gorgeous. I had never even heard of pink dolphins until this day.
I love the moments in travel when the unexpected happens or I learn something new.
Daily life is also better if we allow ourselves to be experiential and grow as a person. You never know what you might discover about yourself, others or the world around you when you explore and step out of your comfort zone.

I've come to realise that this is very true. Because I have a life too and many times I've been really busy having a million things to do and plan, a lot to think about and resolve but, never, in my whole life, have I ever felt that I was too busy for someone.
I have always been available if someone really really needed me. If that meant I would have to skip a meal or postpone work and then have to work harder and faster or have to sleep less, then I'd do it, I still do because life is about priorities.
It's not that we should rely on others to feel better, we shouldn't. But there are moments in life when something is just too much to bear on our on and it's less damaging to our souls if there's someone there to share the pain with us. What are friends for after all, if when you need them the most they aren't there? Nobody is ever too busy to help you if that's what they really want to do! 😌

Realistic Optimism
Realistic optimism is a key ingredient of resilience. The research on optimism is clear: optimistic people are happier, healthier, and more productive. Compared to pessimists, optimists have better relationships, succeed more, are better problem solvers and are less likely to suffer from depression. This is because individuals who are more realistically focused on the positive elements of adversity are able to better manage the negative aspects of situations.
Realistic optimists reflect upon difficult situations carefully, try to find silver linings and trust that viable solutions will be discovered. They think about their thinking and are aware that they will recover, given time and support. They proactively look below the surface of an experience to better understand their reactions.
