This is my Ghetto-Rigged Safety Bar squats. I didn't trust my grip on the straps so I kept it light weight/high volume (10x12-I lost count on this set). That's 120 +/- squats so cut me some slack if the oxygen wasn't getting to my head to count properly. Since I couldn't rely on my arms holding or pushing the bar against my traps, I really had full fully engage my trap muscles to keep the bar from slipping. My traps are definitely feeling like they put in some extra work. The reason I had to improvise with the lifting straps was because of my shoulder injury. I can't comfortably pull my arms back to balance the bar. We sometimes take for granted how the squat exercise involves more than just our legs and glutes. The squat is a compound exercise that works primarily the lower body but also involves the upper body including your core and shoulders. By the way, please ignore my dorky dancing. It was hot in there and I had to distract myself from the heat one way or another. #texasheat
