I had a breakthrough race today at the BC Provincial Championships finishing second in the Master D (60+) category. Everything started to come together when I made the break on the first lap. When we settled into a rhythm and I was able to assess the break I saw that only 3 riders from my age group had made the selection. At that point I knew if I could hang on I'd be assured of a podium spot. I spent the next part of the race marking Brian and Horacio (my 60+ break mates) while the rest of the break battled it out for supremacy in the 50+ category. I was sitting third on the final uphill sprint to the finish and was able to pull past Horacio with 100 meters to go to take second while Brian flew up the hill to take first. A little celebration tonight and then time to start preparing for Canadian Masters Championships in two weeks.
