So, if you're looking to drop pounds, or clear your mental fog, or eat healthier, or increase your sense of wellbeing, perhaps you could try this simple, but surprisingly rare and sometimes difficult, little tool that I use a lot. Try being hungry. If tackling this at every meal feels too difficult for you at first, try just doing it for lunch. Or dinner. It's a great start.
And, if you're going to try intentionally adding more hunger to your life, my #1 tip is: always be prepared with your next meal! The danger of feeling hungry is making poor choices when you finally do eat. I always say "don't shop for groceries when you're hungry" because you'll pick up all the junk! So when I know I'm gonna wait for that little tummy grumble before eating again, I try to prepare, or at least PLAN, my next meal. I will eat a well-balanced meal and watch my taste buds dance, my energy soar and my waistline trim down.

When was the last time you were hungry? It might seem like an odd question, but in actuality, many of us, if we try, can't recall. I don't mean when was the last time you wanted to eat, were craving food, or got a little nibbly? I mean, when was the last time you waited until your stomach was growling before you put food in it?

I used to get a growly tummy all the time in school, when we weren't allowed to eat or drink in class, but these days, with food and drink being so readily available all the time: chips, coffee, sodas, muffins, etc, for many of us getting hungry has to be a conscious effort.
I have heard that 30% of our health hinges on our activity levels and that 70% hinges on our eating habits, and I've seen this to be true in my own life. Hunger is a big part of that.

I want to be clear that I never starve myself and don't advise that, in my experience that only leads to binging on the worst possible foods and food substitutes (amongst a myriad of other problems), but I have come to value and, yes even enjoy, some hunger in my life. Link in bio.

If I wait to actually feel hungry before I eat, and then give myself a satisfying, well-balanced meal, I feel like my digestion becomes more efficient, my mind becomes clearer, my heart happier, exercise easier, and food tastes WAY better...especially the healthy stuff. An ex boyfriend always said, "Hunger is the best sauce." And he was right!

Sometimes it's hard and sometimes i feel unmotivated to do it, but ultimately, at the end of the day, i do love to run. I suspect my body was made for it because i know people who just abhor running and when i watch them try, i abhor them running, too.
I think that certain bodies are made for certain things. Some are made for running, some for swimming (i look like i'm being swarmed by bees when i try to front crawl), some for lifting, some for dancing, some for wrestling, some for rowing... That's not to say that if you love something that you weren't "made for" that you can't excel at it, but more to say that if your body wasn't made for something, and you absolutely hate it, then you'll probably always hate it, no matter how much you try to love it. Again, just my guess.
So, my theory is, find the activity or activities you ❀️, and pursue that. If that's frisbee, or golf, or diving, or hockey, or polka, or parkour, or tai chi, or cycling, whatever it is, do that. If you've gained so much weight and lost so much muscle that you no longer know what activities you love because they all suck to you, try to think back to before you gained weight, and lost muscle, for clues to what might bring you pleasure as you get over the initial hump.
I think a lot of us wrongly perceive being healthy and fit as requiring 1. some kind of gym and 2. running or "training", but I don't believe that's true. It is my belief that doing the activities you love, even when they're hard, and finding joy and satisfaction in them is the path to the healthiest you. I love to run, the added bonus is it helps me to feel and look my best.

Don't forget to move your #arms when you #run! A lot of people ask me about how to sculpt their arms and, much to their surprise, I sometimes mention running. If folks would remember that moving your arms is just as important as moving your legs when you run, there would be a lot more toned arms out there! Short and sweet. I'm just getting warmed up...

So as a nanny I have read many, many, mannnnny children's books. And I have to say this is an amazing kids book. It's not your typical princess story or a jolly everyone wins at the end B.S.. It's a dark tale of a girl wondering into a unknown world.
