"I have only to glance over my shoulder for all those years to drop away and I see it behind me again, the ravine, rising all green and black through the saplings, a picture that will never leave me."
-The Secret History, Donna Tartt
I started reading this book a few days ago. From a few pages that I've read I can tell that the writing is outstanding. It is worth all the praise it gets. Monotonous settings from human life are transformed into beautifully crafted sentences. It is not one of those books that you can gobble up in one sitting. I had to close the book a few times and just think.
