“You have to make the mind run the body.” #unknown •
For the record, I’m not a real life Navy Seal. But to me, being a Navy Seal is more than being an elite warrior, it’s a mindset.
I’ve read every book ever written by, or about, Navy Seals. #thewarriorelite #noesayday #theredcircle #lonesurvivor #thewayoftheseal ...the list goes on. Despite the many great accomplishments these warriors have accomplished, they inevitably always start their books talking about BUDs (Basic Underwater Demolition School). Why? Because it’s here where they all learnt that success is all about their mindset.
The reoccurring thing written by these Seals about what it took in order to finish BUDs was that they had to take it one evolution (training cycle) at a time. That is the Navy Seals mindset.
Those that looked too far forward would give in to fear, self-sabotage, self-doubt, etc., and would eventually ring the bell (you don’t actually get kicked out of BUDs, but only get sent home if you quit by ringing a bell three times. 80% of those that start ring the bell). The problem with those that rang the bell, was they we're thinking like most of us do. “How much more of this can I take?” “Will it ever end?” This mindset is what let adversity defeat them. The successful candidate thinks differently. He shows up, he does his work, he keeps on fighting, no matter what. Not because he’s physically more gifted, or smarter, but because he faces what’s right in front of him and refuses to quit.
Just take it one evolution at a time people #refusetoquit #oneevolutionatatime
